What is Pilates?
Pilates is a unique method of physical and mental conditioning for the whole body with a focus on strengthening the deep core abdominal and postural muscles. Pilates exercises range from gentle to athletic and highlight the importance of correct postural alignment, breathing and centering techniques which can be used as a solid foundation for daily functional movement.
The Pilates Principles of Concentration, Breathing, Centering, Control, Isolation, Precision, Flowing Movement and Routine are incorporated within the rhythm of class. Movements are tailored to suit individual needs within small classes and your instructor will provide gentle hands-on reinforcement to ensure maximum benefits of Pilates practice.
Some benefits of Pilates are improved core strength, posture, flexibility, balance, spinal mobility, circulation, body awareness, stress relief, deep sleep and reduction/elimination of back and other joint pain.
